I’ve written before about birthstones, as they are something I love to work with and often form the starting point for custom designs. I decided in this post to create a quick guide to the different birthstones, to help when choosing jewelry to give as gifts, or to serve your own curiosity about what your birthstone says about you!
January - Garnet
Garnet is a powerful protective and healing stone. It is often used to attract love, and has a very creative energy.
February - Amethyst
Amethyst is the stone of faithful love. It is also a great stone for soothing emotions, and is a wonderful crystal to call on when you need to balance passion with temperance.
March - Aquamarine
Like water, aquamarine is a stone which is both calming and cleansing. It is also a stone that inspires trust and truthfulness.
April - Diamond
Diamond is an excellent stone for sparking the imagination. Perfect to use when you need inspiration, or to look at things in a new way.
May - Emerald
Emerald is a stone of springtime; new opportunities, new life, and above all hope. A stone filled with positivity, emerald is also a stone that is filled with compassion and love.
June - Pearl
Pearls symbolize purity and integrity. They are thought to symbolize wisdom and are a warm, generous “stone”.
July - Ruby
Rubies are passionate, fiery stones. They are energizing and motivational, providing a clear mind and forward momentum for any purpose.
August - Peridot
Peridot is a stone of the summer sun; filled with warmth and contentment. This bright yellow-green stone is well loved for its supportive energy which promotes self-confidence, success, and happiness.
September - Sapphire
Sapphires are stones of wisdom, aiding in all academic pursuits but especially in the search for truth. They are stones that lend strength and faith, and can enhance understanding.
October - Tourmaline
Tourmaline is a great balancer, bringing calm to body and mind. It is a great stone for relaxing and relieving tension, and can also bring inspiration.
November - Topaz
Topaz is a lovely stone for anyone in a creative role, as they inspire self-confidence and also expression, allowing the bearer to create their art and put it out into the world without concern about the views of others. It also brings abundance and joy.
December - Turquoise
Turquoise has long been thought to bring friendship. It is also thought to be a lucky stone, bringing clear thoughts, happiness and good fortune.
